Christian Hurttienne is a unique firm in the urban landscape of design, building and development. With its two principals, Christopher Christian and Brian Hurttienne, forging an independent path of leadership in the fields of architecture and construction where we want to create what we design. We have been in business for 10 years, and we are now an established firm with numerous new construction projects of various scales and of note as can be referenced throughout our portfolio published herein including our own development project, the Bagley 10 Condominiums in the Corktown Historic District. We are surrounded by a diverse staff which supplies a wealth of knowledge and passion for our future and we have orchestrated symbiotic companies to complement our goals.
Central to our core is the architecture firm, Christian Hurttienne Architects. Brian and Chris have been working architects in the City of Detroit for many years with a strong reputation of competence and quality. Brian has been living and working in Detroit for over 30 years, in various firms and as a sole proprietor, has experienced many projects from an architect’s view, and also as the developer. Chris is an architect’s architect; keen in his design approach, proficient in documentation, and structured in his approach and attention to detail, coupled with construction knowledge, management experience, and financial acumen. Together, their shared priorities and aesthetic character drive the design of every project and building we craft.
Our construction company, Christian Hurttienne Construction, is proving the path of architect / builder with Chris leading a team to achieve our goals. Having accomplished finalizing construction of the Bagley 10 Condominiums in Corktown, we will now broaden our investments to be involved in multiple projects simultaneously. Upon the heels of completing the Bagley 10, we will be moving forward with two new construction projects in North Corktown, beginning in 2025. The team will utilize our existing knowledge with an expanded approach to each building’s construction. The architecture firm’s inherent knowledge base and software capabilities will leverage the aggregate construction teams’ approach to advanced manufacturing of building components to be constructed in the firm’s new 40,000sqft manufacturing facility on Detroit’s Lower Eastside beginning in 2025.
Christian Hurttienne Development was formed to be a real estate holding company to assist in maintaining and accessing projects for the architecture and construction companies. We look at acquiring property with the eyes of design, construction, and development, thru the lens of financial analysis to guide the purchases as real estate investments. We have amassed approximately 7.5 acres of vacant land located within core neighborhood districts of Corktown, N. Corktown and West Village to be developed beginning in 2025. We are targeting an acquisition goal of an additional 10 acres of land within our existing service areas (Corktown, N. Corktown, and West Village) as well begin acquisition of development opportunities within with the Lower Eastside over the next three years.
We continue to accomplish a lot and look to innovation, whether it be in design, construction, or development, to provide us, our clients, and our development partners with more capacity in a constantly evolving built environment.
